Introducing ...
I thought I would finally introduce my new girl to you all - my new girl is a 4 month old female albino and I have named her Layce. For those of you that don't know - she was a handfed baby, but hasn't been touched since she was weaned and has gone wild. She has been doing excellent with me and has made such wonderful and drastic progress in only 4 days, I am so thrilled with her. We still have a long way to go, but she is doing wonderful.
I have attached a couple pictures of Miss Layce - please excuse her not so beautiful look, she is going through a molt and has some missing spots and some pins growing in. She was also quite messy when I brought her home as she was in a cage with some other ringnecks - I did give her a bath with some birdie shampoo, but it doesn't look like it - they are stains and I will just have to wait until those dirty spots molt and grow back. That the trouble with white Anyway - enjoy the pics. |

She is beautiful and it sounds like you are already connecting. Keep us posted on her progress.

Thanks guys - I am glad you like her! She is definitely starting to relax some and feel more at home - she has been eating alot more and playing with her toys alot. I re-did her cage yet again for about the 100th time and it is finally the way we both like it.
I am very happy with her and she is coming along quite nicely. She doesn't need to be toweled at all anymore. She takes treats from my hand with no problem. I am able to hold her on my chest and give her head scratches which she seems to love - she will just lay her head down on me to get the scratches. Just yesterday she was on her play gym and it took a minute, but I was able to get her to step up on my finger from there and she stayed there for a few minutes without trying to fly off - I was able able to give her some head scratches and then put her back in her cage where she stepped up on her perch and all without trying to get away once. I was so happy to see that and of course she got a couple of treats after that. I do believe she is going to be a nice pet, but even though we have had some wonderful progress we still have a long way to go. I am in no rush though!!! Everything turned out very well and for the best. Layce was able to get a forever home where she is going to be loved and spoiled as much as possible and I got a wonderful ringneck not to mention that is an albino and my favorite mutation that I have always wanted. ![]() PS - I love this picture - I thought you guys would get a kick out of it. I put the camera right in her face and this is how the picture turned out. She looks like she is mean as can be, but she was actually just checking out the camera with her tongue ![]() Last edited by Thoroughbred; 08-01-2008 at 08:08 AM. |
