Matches..clipped...

Ok so I have been delaying saying this on here cos I know how some BB members are about clipping but..yes...I have clipped my beloved Matches. She was becoming aggressive and with my new job, it was hard to find time to let her out while I chill out too..so i decided to clip her cos I now work at a big pet store and if out birds are clipped we can take them in...

So both Beetle and Matches come to work with me..HOWEVER she can still pretty much fly, just not as fast, and sometimes not as high. I like it cos she is pretty much flighted but more managable and at work, she doesnt go far. Only 3 off each side, she is such a strong flier though. So that's my confession. Plus they are still long enough to cross behind her back, love it!

I am considering having my birds clipped too. I am a little unsure about how I feel about clipping their flights. How did she react to the clipping? Did she exhibit any signs of stress after the clipping? I think that it is great that you can bring your birds to work with you! At least she will become more socialized and have more interaction instead of being in the cage at home all day.

Yeah that's why, i dont want her to become posessive so the socialisation will do them good. I clipped beetle my green cheek as soon as I got her cos she wasnt tame and she is so sweet. Matches has been flighted the whole time but wasnt stressed at all after. thats what i was worried about, plus I wanted her to be able to fly a bit. Beetle can only glide downwards but Matches can still fly horizontally and a bit upwards. So good.

Sounds like a good decision all around. Do lots of folks bring their birds to the store with them? I see dogs and the rare cat in local stores, but can only remember seeing one or two birds.

Yeah lots do. We have parrot preschool at out store. but yeah people bring all their animals in, I work in the bird and reptile section mainly so we get snakes too sometimes. The staff bring in their birds and we have a play area for them. Always wash our hands after going anywhere near quarentine.
