In Bed?

Just a couple more minutes of shut eye... just a couple more.

This morning Tawheed, as usual, woke me up with his screams for breakfast.
I tried to ignore him, he screamed more and I took pity on my neighbors and got up.

Sluggishly, I gave him and Baz their food, left the big guy's cage door open and went to bed.

He kept screaming. He is free, he is fed. What the heck?

When it became real apparent he wanted my attention I hesitantly went to the birds. I don't like seperating him and the parakeet, by rooms, because they begin to act like dualing banjos and scream for each other which makes it even worse.

I shrug and take him back to bed with me. I put him on a pillow and close my eyes. He does not scream for Baz. He just stares at me.

For over an hour, he stands very still and every time I pop open an eye- he is watching me. It was wierd. Finally I get up and take him to a couple of his favorite places in the house and he won't jump off my finger.

Makes me wonder what was going on in his realm that I was not aware of.

What do you do to get a couple more minutes of shut eye?

My room has an air-conditioner in the window above the bed. If I didn't want to be up to feed my fids, I wouldn't have to be. It's low hum and fan drown out all of the other sounds in the house. It's not so easy to sleep after 6am in the winter mind you. In the winter when they start to celebrate the morning, I get up feed them their fruit and that usually shuts the party down for a few minutes allowing me to slumber for a few more.

Many times I'll give a treat on the weekends so they can play and eat, this gives me about 90 more minutes. I too have taken one of my birds to the bedroom in the past. My ringneck will accually keep the other birds quiet if she can see that you are sleeping. However, there is no tricking her. The moment you are fully awake, eyes open or not, she calls for you. I still haven't figured out how she knows!!

My guys are pretty good about sleeping in. They hang at night and are normally fairly quiet in the mornings until I start to stir THEN it is normally on!
If I really want a little more sleep and I can't roll over and ignore it then I shut my door - normally does the trick for me.
I have to admit though that I am pretty good at the roll over and back to sleep thing.
