Too Scared

YouTube - Flying Fisher Valley

I know Red takes her birds outside, but I am too scared Tawheed would prefer the outdoors to me!

However, this video is just wonderful.

Do you take your birds outside?

Unless they are harnessed, my birds do not go outside. There is too big of a risk doing so in my oppinion. Even birds trained in free flight can be scared enough to fly off, never to be seen again.

Here is the story of Tui, a grey that was being free flight trained and was lost.

Mine will go out... but are clipped AND will be harnessed!

I have taken them out a few times so far w/o harnesses... but only at my mother's (in the country) and when there was NO wind.

None of my current birds have been out as of yet, but when I had my Congo before I had to rehome her , she went out with me all the time and just loved it - we'd go for walks around the neighborhood or just sit outside, anything really just to be outside. She was clipped and always had a harness on though.

I do!

YouTube - Charlie Flying Outside

I take Noel out occasionally as well... She goes outside unclipped, and without harness or cage/carrier. However, please bear in mind that she flies just as well as a dropped rag doll. She loves going outside! The other birds do as well, but they'd have to go outside in a carrier. Kiwi can't fly but she's get her mate Pistachio who does. They *HATE* being separated so they'd have to go in a carrier together. Being that most of the birds here aren't tame, and it would be too much of a hassle trying to move them in and out, the little birds don't get to go outside.
