My IRN meets my friend Tivona's IRN (image heavy)

Well my friend Tivona (she posts here too) has had her IRN for a couple years now. She also has an Eclectus she adopted and a Parrotlet. They all get along pretty well. She's actualy the one who introduced me to IRNs. So I bought Logan about a year ago. He's pretty nice, althought like most IRN's he's not crazy about being scratched and so on. He likes giving kisses and has no problem being handled. He went through his little nipping stage and now he's just great. Talk up a storm and knows alot of phrases and words.

So me and my friend decided that our IRNs should finally meet. They are both male (though mine hasn't grown in his ring yet, but has a few pink feathers on the back of his neck).

At first they didn't pay much attention to eachother.

Then they started to kind of get to know eachother. With some "hello's" and some "pretty boy's".

And by the end of the night they were in love with eachother.

As you can see, Logan still has alot of his baby feathers and is still a little fluffy. Where Cai (Tivona's IRN) is a fully grown male.
Other then that, Logan is a little larger with bigger feet. He's also a little more agressive.

Thanks for sharing. The birds really are splendid. We don't often hear about Ringnecks, so you'll have to teach us everything we need to know.

Ringnecks are amazing. They have very strong personalities and are usually pretty easy to care for. What's great about them is that they are small eaters and hardly ever have food problems. They eat anything and do allot of exercise. Both mine and my friends IRN are very good talkers. But they do need ALOT of handling when they are very young. If the breeder misses that tiny window where the bird needs allot of human contact to become tame when babies they will go pretty wild. Which is usually the case with allot of IRN owners. Breeders treat them like they would with the more tame species. They don't realize that IRNs really need that extra bit of attention.

It's very apparent in the case with mine and my friends IRN. My friend hand fed and raised her IRN and really gave him 24/7 attention and handling and now he's just as affectionate and loving as a Cockatoo.
Where as my IRN was hand fed and handled with a breeder that didn't give that extra attention he needed. So I had a hard time getting to accept me holding him and snuggling him.

Feel free to ask anymore questions. Me and my friend together have 3 years experiance with IRNs.

Anyway, here are some more random pictures of both our ringnecks and other birds we own. Enjoy.

Your birds are beautiful. We have two indian ringnecks Sancho (green) and Sonny (yellow). We just recently added Sonny to the house. He is 18 months old and has spent all his previous life in the pet shop. He has picked up a few strange sounds though (sounds like growling and barking). Sancho is only 4 months old and he is a little more tame at the moment because we've had him for longer.

How have you gotten your ringneck to lay on its back? And they got along so well too. Our boys aren't quite that friendly with one another.

Hey there! Wow my birdy is so pretty ;-) Cai is a sweety Pie! He is very sociable, he gets along with all other parrots! I have NEVER seen him be aggresive with any other or with people! As I am sure some of you know I hand raised him myself(when I was working for a pet store and hand feeding and raising thier parrots) so I was able to handle him a lot. He so trusting and gentle. Along with fliping him on his back, he will sleep in my lap on his side with legs streched out, sometimes even with a blanket on! I am sure his tameness is due to my gentle but firm handling when he was little, he will let me do anything with him!! He knows how to "groove" bobbing his head, shake his head "no", wave bye bye(very very cute, but a little obsessed with that!) and he also will take a ring and "marry" you LOL he will put the ring onto a finger if you offer it to him LOL! I think they are the most under ratted parrot! they ahve great personalities and can be very tame and loving with a bit of work. If you look in the photo section u can see Cai sitting on my lap in the car! He is too funny, he's taken road trips on my lap that were 13 hours! beleive me he got lots of attention at the stops! Cai is 3 years and a half so I have lots of experience with him let me know if you have any questions. Jay we have to have Logan come again soon Cai misses him!

I love IRN's. I have to admit I think they are one of the most beautiful birds. Thanks for sharing the photos. Love your avatar!
