Question Shakti - Molting

Shakti is now a little over 7 months old. I have not noticed any molting. Her feathers look fine and healthy. The only thing I noticed iwere 2 feathers that looks like she broke off as they had a clear cut (they looked a bit frayed and I guess she bit them off). No mutilation or anything. The vet does not seemed concerned when I called him to tell him.

I would imagine she would have started her molting by now. Does anyone had an IRN who is nearly 8 months old and not molted?

yes, my baby blue is the youngest of my hatchings this year of the three green hatchlings, one has moulted while the other two from a different set of parents have not yet moulted.
We have four pairs, three have bred and the fourth is old enough to breed this winter. Don't worry about it. It is still hot in Texas, when the weather changes your bird will most likely moult, they IRN moult twice a year, at least mine do.And what a mess picking off moult from their aviary....

Thank you so much for responding. Shakti has such beautiful feathers I cannot imagine her losing any. I will probably cry when she starts loosing feathers!

you won't for she will be ever more beautiful when the new ones come in. Wait until she loses her tail end feathers, they are so odd looking without them and they hocus pocus they reappear adding to their uniquness. The two end tail feathers are actually just about the same length as their bodies.
