DSCN1461 Territorial rights/ male supremecy
This is part of the ritual during mating season. The males become quite vocal, and slightly more aggresive. Here you can see Pirate our eldest and the most dominate male trying to get Kacholi to back off. Kacholi really couldn't care less, he has got Princess. In the bottom branch you can see the eye pinning and swaying back and forth with wingd held back, which I wrote about in a thread. Sorry for all the moult feathers. You should see what is going on here with the males chasing each other and the females squaking and chasing each other as well. YouTube - DSCN1461 Territorial rights/ male supremecy DSCN1462 Here is another ritual which is mating related Here you can see Pirate doing the walk, we call it the hop, step and jump. Notice the wings, leg strides and repetitive times of the same motions. This actually went on for about 10 minutes, but I stopped just a little over a minute, but enough for you to get the idea. YouTube - DSCN1462 Here is another ritual which is mating related As the mating season develops I will post more. These things do take time, first the wooing, then the rituals, the male feeding the females come next wub:and only about a month later the actual coupling, resulting in beautiful little eggs. Proper diet is most important all year round, especially during mating season. ![]() ![]() Rebecca in Israel
