Beak color change in moustached parakeet

Yay! So tomorrow we are going to pick up our new family member an 8 month old moustached parakeet. The previous owner had him DNA'd male. I understand that the chicks hatch with red beaks that turn black and then either remain so(female) or change back to red(male). I am wondering if anyone can tell me at what age do the males beaks turn back to reddish orange? Nikko is only 8 months and is yet to attain his full moustache coloring with incomplete facial markings and just a hint of berry color around the neck. Also his beak is mostly black with a few streaks of red. At 8 months should his beak have changed already? Is it possible the DNA sexing was incorrect and he is a she? Or do 8 month old boys still sport a black beak? Just curious.

I don't really know much about moustached parakeets, but I do know that with indian ringnecks and alexandrians, it may take about 2 years for a male to start showing his colors.
