Sad for me, about Freedom

Freedom has been free now for several weeks and is doing great. She flys to me when I call her and clap my hands. My husband was out on top of the 5th wheel the other day and she flew on his head. Was funny. Sad part is, I had to give her to a friend that has free flying doves as well, for her own safety. Not from an animal but from horrible kids. My neighbor has 2 teenage boys and a 9 year old boy. One of the older ones, torched a possuum last month and from what I heard from my husband (who ran and got a hose) it was horrible. Then last week, the 9 year old suffocated their little 3 lb terrier, out of jealousy. I was so afraid that Freedom would land on one of the kids and it would be over for her, as she is so friendly and loving. Every time I think of her flying to me and giving me kisses I cry cause she is not here to do that anymore. Like now I have to hold my head back to keep the tears from flowing. I'm at work and people just don't understand. I can visit her anytime and my friend lives back in the woods where Freedom won't have to worry about mean, horrible kids. I have pics of her and will post them soon. Just had to share my sadness, even though its best for my baby.

I'm so sorry. I know you'll miss her, but good for you for being able to let her go where she's safe.

And that's how much you are supposed to love them. So much, it really hurts. You did the right thing.

How awful! Something should be done about those neighbor's children; what do the parents think of their behavior?

Laurie, that was my thought too. Those kids are seriously headed for serial killer status.

Well, Freedom is doing great. She has a buddy and they seem quite happy. As for the terrors next door, we live on the company grounds. There are 3 houses and the hubsbands are on call 24/7. I told the Dupty Gen Mgr about the problems next door and they are going to put a stop to alot of the goings on over there. The parents have no control. The father is a "stepfather" and the mother does not back him up at all. She actually sits outside and drinks beer with the kids, and they are all minors. Well, I feel so much better about Freedom and maybe she will show back up at my house one day. I now have 22 free flying Ringnecks in my yard and they are all just beautiful. Somebody is obviously turning them loose or just a whole bunch got free. I keep feed down for them and water at all times so they are all fat and happy.

I agree that at least the nine year old sounds like a serial killer in the making. How about an update? I see this thread ended months ago.

Can we say, "seriel Killers in Training" here! OMG what horrible horrible kids. And so sorry that you had to give your baby away.

Ugh, just reading this post has me sooo steamed up!!

So glad I was not born into that ignorant family, children need to have guidance and learn respect. That mother shouldn't even be called a "mother", but rather a drinking partner for her kids!
