Miniature Doves....questions....

Hi everybody!
I just bought home two miniature doves, I couldn't resist when I went to get my canaries but I want to make sure I do everything right, any advice or suggestions would be appreciated!
It is a male & female, bonded pair......
Thanks!
Natalie
I will post pic's asap.

You mean Diamond Doves right? Do you intend on breeding them? Most people I know use canary nest for them. Also it's best to have each pair in their own cage verses a colony as they aren't the smartest birds or best parents, although what dove is. When in a colony they tend to "forget" to feed their babies during the period where they are out of the nest, but not yet weaned and the babies end up dying. They should be fed a dove mix of seeds, but if you can't find one you can use parakeet food with finch pellets mixed in. I have ringnecks and I plan on getting DD's once I get my basement cleaned out for my parrots. I can't keep them outside in the winter here in NY as it's too cold. Also they need to be fed grit to help them digest their food. Parakeet grit will do. If you need any more help just let me know.

In the nestbox: 3 pair of keets working the box. In the Incubator: 4 dozen duck eggs and some chicken eggs. In the brooder: XL cochins. Will be breeding bourks once I get boxes and I breed keets now, tiels have boxes, but males have no intrest in female and females have no intrest in males.

Thank you - I tried to take some pic's - a little hard
but let me know if you or anyone can tell what they are from these - I'm still learning how to use this digital camera too - lol
Anyway, I was told they are miniature doves, if there is another name for them I don't know, I want to learn about them though.

I've never heard of them being refered to as Miniature doves. They are Diamond Doves. The one looks to be a normal color and the other I'm not to sure about because I can't see it real well.

Thank you everybody - I was able to find them on a search using Diamond Doves, I think this may be a better picture.....they male is a little lighter in color. They may want a nest because I've seen him jump on her a few times.

And here's a better pic of the female canary - Do the regular yellow canaries sing too?

Thank again for the input!
Natalie
