Does my Diamond Dove have a case of "Spring Fever" ?

I love my doves. They were born at a local breeder in June 2005.

I adopted them on July 20th, 2005. It is now the middle of April 2006.

Please don't tell me this is night fright, because I am confident that's not the problem here. But just starting three nights ago, my male diamond dove does his goofy dance several moments or so after I turn off the main light. He always has his night light which always was enough for him before (it's a good light) No variables have changed at all in their environment.

Last night I slept with the lamp on (the doves and my other birds including parrots share a room with me) - and Jonah didn't do his goofy dance at all, until about 4am when I turned out the light, and just on cue he started dancing, his flapping wings, hopping around and making a ruckus. My female dove, Jordan, just sits there and calmly watches him.

I am wondering if this has something to do with Spring. I am stuck now with the decision of either sleeping with the lamp on every night (with all my finches, lovebirds, canaries, budgies, doves, and African Grey in the same room with me and my husband) or moving the doves to a different room just for night time, as I like to keep my flock together. My doves are friends with my canaries and I want them to continue to be neighbours.

I called the breeder, and he said I should exericise them more, and tucker them out. That didn't work either !!

Any ideas ?

Maybe put the doves and canaries together, then move them to a separate room???

Males do strut around for females, but haven't heard of birds (other than parrots) making noise in the middle of the night when they should be sleeping... unless it's a nightfright.... could indeed be related to hormones...
