More pics of Sweetpea :)
we are making leaps and bounds with this girl, as far as taming goes :) for the first time, she let us touch her chest feathers yesterday :) she knows im the one who brings her treats, so she always flies and lands close to me so she can see if i brought her any goodies. before, she would eat her treats real quick and then take off right away, but now shes starting to linger for a while after she eats her treats, i think shes gonna be a real sweetie when i have her tamed. pretty soon i will have her perching on my arm, i cant wait!! shes super-smart, she has alot of potential to learn tricks and stuff, but for now we are just working with her so she can become tame :)

LOL! She sounds a little like Sunshine! Sunshine will follow me around the bird room when I start giving out food! Even after I set food out for everyone, she continues to follow me, until either I put food in my hand for her, or I leave the room! Of course then Casey has to come over to get scritches!
I've never really learned how toucans are as pets, let alone hornbills, so I'm quite interested in your experience with your little girl!

hornbills, and toucans, are AWESOME little birds!! i just love them to pieces, and actually, i kinda prefer them to parrots
they are just as smart, or smarter, than parrots, they love toys just as much as parrots do,they are active birds, and they cant bite you and make you bleed really, lol. i havent seen too much moody-ness out of any of the hornbills to be honest. they have thier little moments, but they dont do any real damage like a parrot. when a hornbill likes you, they are the most gentle birds, dispite their huge beaks, they are slow and cautious around you, trying to be gentle, lol. they like to have their casques and beaks rubbed, and they will grab your fingers, shoelaces, anything that grabs their attention, and they are just so gentle. that being said, hornbills can be very powerful if they wanna be, but that energy is usually taken out on their food or toys. sweetpea sometimes pecks pretty hard at the wooden door frame, just like our parrots chew on it, lol. those pecks are really hard, but she plays with my fingers and stuff, and shes always gentle. not only that, but her nosies are so much quieter than parrots, and sweetpea only really makes her noises when she really wants to come out of her cage, or when shes hungry. i have a vid somewhere in my albums, i finally caught her on video making noise, lol.
