Q about Diamond doves

Do Diamond Doves need to be kept in pairs?
In other words, will one DD do fine or will he be too lonely?

I bought one DD yesterday and was told by a sales person at Petco that one would be just fine, but I would like to hear your opinion.

Thank you.

I found a few articles that talk about keeping a single DD and decided to go ahead and keep just one. He is doing great. After only a week with us he perched on my hand today. I am so happy.
