Button Quail Baby!

As some of you know, I've been incubating my button quail eggs, and last night (well, more like this morning, because it was at midnight), one of them hatched!

So, I woke up at midnight to hear this high pitched sound. You know how sometimes your nose whistles when you breath? It sounded just like that! At first, I thought it was Cheyenne breathing in her sleep. So, since I couldn't get back to sleep (I need everything to be silent in order to fall asleep), I started walking over to Cheyenne's cage so I could wake her up quickly. As I was approaching her cage, I noticed that this noise was coming from the incubator, and then it hit me!

I turned on the lamp, looked inside, and there was the button quail, waddling around, peeping away! I'll try to post pictures later today!

Well, I would show pics, but bad news... The little guy (keep in mind that he was about an inch in length) somehow managed to get into a cup of water that was 3 inches tall!! The water was in there for humidity, as he was still in the incubator and there is another egg due to hatch. But, I guess you learn from your mistakes, right? *sigh* I hope the other one hatches... He was cute while he was here, though! :)

Actually what I've done instead (shallow dishes of water would evaporate too fast) is covered the dishes with a mesh-type thing. Hopefully this prevents them from falling in...
He was my first successfull hatch... *sniff* lol
