Bobwhite Quail

Hi guys,

i just had a little curiousity about the Bobwhite quail and i just thought that many american BB members would know lots about them. As they are much more commonly kept in America than Aus.

I heard they are flighty, and disturb the accompying aviary birds. And that the young are very weak when artificially reared, just a bit of info if these things are true or not, and any other little bits of info will do

and also, very quickly again, if anyone had ANY info on keeping and breeding Chukar Partridge i would be truly greatful

thankyou again guys

Zac,

well bobwhites are usually not kept in the US they are bred and released into the wild most of the time. They are naturaly flighty and nervous. there are a few here that have hatched and released.me being one of them.

Button quail/painted quail are usually kept in aviaries...not sure if this helped..sure someone else will come on by with better info

Yes i heard, but i do know of many keepers in the US that keep and breed these birds.
King Quail are kept aviaries i kept them for a long time lol. But Bobwhite quail i have not kept, but they are the second most popularist quail species here in Aus.

I have a pair of Bob White quails, as yet they have not bred for me. They are in an aviary with parrots, and they don't seem to bother them too much. The love to roost with the parrots at night, they look really funny up next to a ring neck!

Jap quails are quite common, and they are easier to come by, and they are not quite as flighty as the Bob Whites.
