Fruit doves are pretty!

My local zoo is going though a big re-vamp (we made accreditation... yeah!) and is getting some for the "interactive aviary". I think that just means you can walk through it without being mauled (the zoo also has raptors and some wicked black African vultures with 10ft wingspans that are... um... temperamental from inside reports! LOL).

Anyway, here are some googled fruit doves!

Thanks! I never knew there were so many pretty fruit doves worldwide. It gives an added appreciation to the expanse and beauty and variety of our planet to see them.

Thumbs up WOW... they are gorgeous!

Wow, they are gorgeous... You've taught me something new... I'd never even heard of them.

They remind me of a gouldian finches markings on a dove... really cool!

Rose-crown fruit dove

beautiful birds.

we are currently doing a slab for a planted aviar to house a pair of the rose crowned fruit-doves lovely birds; lovely birds but very pricey i think it is $500 for a pair. The diet also is of difficulty, with the full diet of diced apple, pear, peas and corn and other seasonal fruits+ Softbill mixes and turkey crumble.
