Dove help

We caught a small dove, it's someone's domesticated bird, not a wild one. Our avian vet confirmed that. It was soaking wet from pouring rain, had some sort of grease on it that washed off with Dawn. It got really cold the night we caught this bird, being soaking wet & in the cold I don't think the poor thing would've lived through the night had we not caught it. Bird is missing a lot of feathers, either from what was on it or from poor nutrition. It wouldn't join the flocks of wild dove that hang around here & it didn't seem to understand how to eat what they eat.

It's not a diamond dove like I see in the pet stores but we'll figure out what kind it is later. Like our other Maverick birds Brett & Bart, we can't find anyone to claim this bird. We've had Brett (lovebird) for 4 years, Bart ('teil) for a little over a year.
The dove now named Beau Maverick has no problem eating our Harrison's food, vet says it's not full grown but it's pretty close to being full grown. Vet says eating Harrison's? (Pardon the TX slang) ain't no way that's a wild dove. LOL

I have parrots & have had parrots in the past but never a dove.
I don't know what pet books to buy, I don't know what type of caging it really needs. Beau is in a cockatiel starter cage right now (which is our 'tiel's travel cage) vet says for now while rehabbing this cage is ok.
Beau has a superficial injury under the right wing that we're treating.
Once that's healed what type of cage are we going to need?
What about toys? Do dove like to play with parrot toys?
What else do we need?
Any suggestions I can get here would be greatly apprecaited!
Thanks in advance

Are you sure it is not an Inca Dove?

Yes we are sure it's not an inca. We have flocks of wild dove that hang around our neighborhood all the time they include inca, mourning, white winged, and ringneck. Someone sent me a link to Mangoverde field guide, I cannot find a wild dove or pigeon on that site that looks like this one.
This one looks a lot like a white winged dove but it's not the same color as a white winged and it's got a ring of white feathers on the keel. The white winged have a lot of buff color on them, this one is charcoal gray & none of the white winged are marked like this one. Also this one was a mess, our wild birds are beautiful this one looks like it didn't know how to take care of it'sself, missing feathers, didn't seem to know what to eat or where to get food.
When we put it in a cage it ate pellet food out of the dish as if it knew what a food dish is. The wild birds outside won't eat pellet food, I can throw pellets out & they'll sit there & rot or the dog will eat them or ants before a wild bird will.
I can't imagine a wild bird eating pellet food right away like this one did, our lovebird wouldn't even do that. So far I haven't been able to get a good photo of it, I'll keep trying.
Anyway... I emailed Harrison's for food advice & they replied in less than 24 hours.
I was impressed by that, what I need to work on now is shopping for a more appropriate cage. I'm guessing from what I've read that I need a more rectangle type cage.
Thanks for any suggestions :)

Can we see a pic by any chance?

doves dont need toys or anything, and will just eat any seed + greens.
i should be able to identify it if theres a pic.

Zac,

Would a cage like this work? It's not a great pic but you can take the center divider out and have a nice roomy cage!
