Male-male society behavior

I'm just wondering if anyone else has seen a male, um, pretend that his cage pal is a female? He knows good and well that his cage pal is a male because they sing together. It also happens that they are brothers. Grossy-mcgross-gross! It's not prolonged "mating." One just mounts the other for a second, and the recipient flies away.

( i have 3 zebra males in one cage for the time being.)

my zebra's do this constantly and their dad wants nothing to do with it.he won't stand for it,they fight because of this.
sometimes one brother will stand still for the other, other times he just fights or is the one trying to be on top.

i believe this is because they are immature, know what to do but not what the act is for, don't know who is ok to mount and who isn't,or are just plain frustrated....if you know what i mean..lol.

-i have heard though, when no member of the opposite sex is present one will take the role as male the other the female.wierd but possiby true.

hope this helps.

Ah well I have to say I'm relieved that someone else's birdies do this. Thank you for your input!
