I guess I should have given more details about her enviro in my original post! lol im not sure exactly of her age, but I got her last October. She is housed with a male, indoors, on aspen bedding. She never was a big layer to begin with but she still would lay on occasion and nothing has changed in her cage that I would think would not make her comfy laying eggs.
Their cage is upstairs and they often don't get the sun shining right in. since we face south and my house is quite hot from the sun blazing in, we keep the drapes in the living room shut most of the day.
as for diet my birds get a mix of finch food and budgie seed (which the breeder told me to feed but i find they only pick out one or 2 types of seed and waste the rest!). I also feed them turkey grower pellets as well as Harrisons high potency food. they also get crushed oyster shells, fresh veggies (they like cukes and lettuce the best) and the usual grit. I have tried feeding them some eggs but they arent big fans of it.
I have no desire to have babies or anything like that so if she never lays another egg then thats ok! I just wanted to be sure that they can stop laying but not have it be a sign of anything bad.
She also seems to be going through a molt so maybe that has something to do with it as well?
oh! also i have another male and female pair that used to be upstairs next to them but the male kept calling out and drove us nuts! so we moved them downstairs. Well now Peanuts mate, Pepsi calls out to the birds all the way downstairs and he never made a peep before! could him calling out maybe be stressing her out?
