How do I get rid of the hippoboscids(flat flies)

It seems my doves have been taken over by some of these dirty little insects. I would like to know how I can get rid of them. Is there a spray I can buy to put on them or a dust bath or something?
I have ringneck and white doves. Thanks.

I found this on a Falconers Web Site:

External parasites such as feather lice and hippoboscids are common. Hippoboscids have been described as looking like flying ticks. These can be treated with a topical treatment of 2% Sevin powder or a 0.03% Pyrethrins, 0.3% Piperonyl butoxide spray - any pet store caged bird spray will likely work. Apply once starting at the neck and working your way down, spray only lightly the beak, then reapply 7 days later. If you cannot spray the bird safely, spray a paper towel and rub that along the bird.
British Insects: Diptera Families - Hippoboscidae

However with Parrots and the way that they preen, I would discuss any treatments listed above with an Avian Vet.
These flies also carry West Nile Virus. I think in you situation its best to plan a vet visit for the proper advice on how to treat this problem. Keep us Posted!
