Moving with a canary
I am moving across the country and trying to determine the safest way to get my canary from old home in California to new in South Carolina. Is he better off in and out of a car in his cage for 5 days half-covered or on a flight with me with all the noise, etc? Is there any other way? Is there any company that specializes in shipping overnight in a cage? Is there a tranquilizer a vet can give him, if he in fact makes it through the vet visit? Must find an answer ASAP. The problem is holding up my move. Thanks.

Hi, I hope this doesn't arrive too late to help . I drove from Va.. to Texas with a canary and a cockatiel , a dog and two cats. The canary did great! I put him in a smaller cage for the trip.he sat up from some of the time and was very content . He preferred being able to keep an eye on everyhing going on. I covered his cage if we were driving at night. We actually used to drive him from Va. To S.Carolina every summer when we went on vacation so we wouldn't have to worry about someone else taking care of him. He seemed to enjoy the new scenery. I have glown with cats & dogs , no birds. Not sure how that works. Airlines are so difficult to deal with , they have so many rules & regulations.Good luck.I luv s.c. Marilyn
