I know that there is a post somewhere that gives you the maximum dimensions for a pic but I can't find it! When Kevin comes back from vacations, I'm sure he'll answer you.

Thanx. I may have figured it out though. I was reading my camera's manual and you can adjust the picture quality/size to make it more suitable for posting to the web. I'm gonna play with that and see if it works.

Windows Paint has the ability to resize pics. Open Paint, then click help under index tab type"resize" and it will tell you how to resize with that program.
*OR* You can get Irfanview free on the net. IrfanView - Reviews and free downloads at Download.com It comes bundled with google toolbar now, but you can remove that in add remove programs after you install it. You need to resize your pics by either width/length or pixels. I have found that 25-30 % of the original is a good size for posting on forums. Hope this helps!

If you have even a basic image editing software program, you can solve your problem easily. Here's what you want to do:
1) Open the image you want to work on. 2) Open the "Resize Image" option and get an idea of the actual size of your image. 3) After cropping the image return to the "Resize Image" option. Set the following options in the window that opens: A) Set the resolution to 72 pixels/inch B) Be sure the "Constrain Proportions" box is checked. C) Set the larger dimension (width or length) to 500 pixels. D) Save the file as a JPEG (or JPG) at medium or 50% compression. With these settings most images will be large enough to clearly see, have great color and detail, and yet be somewhere between 40KB to 80KB in size. I have posted the following two images to show you what these specifications produce. This first image is: Resolution: 72pixels/inch, Width: 500 pixels, Height: 468 pixels, File size: 20KB ![]() This second image is: Resolution: 72pixels/inch, Width: 500 pixels, Height: 495 pixels, File size: 24KB ![]() I hope this information is helpful and usable for you. |

There is a link in my signature on how to use Irfanview.
IMO, an image that is 500x375 is a good size. Too much bigger and it may be too big for people who use a screen size of 800x600. If you have rather large images, either use a thumbnail link to them, or just link to them.
