Hey Kevin! Maybe I'm not so dumb after all! I found a compression program on the net, downloaded it and manged to convert my AVI's into Mpegs. The file sizes are now between 19-28 MB. I MAY have a shot at uploading these from work, I will try tomorrow. I managed to get one clip in (I think) called "Rock A Tiel". However when I clicked on it to check it out, it was choppy and cut off. It is supposed to be 21 seconds and I only got 9 seconds. Can you please have a look and see if it is downloading properly into Windows Media and it isn't cut off? It ended up as 5.09 MB and took me 35 minutes to upload on a dial-up connection.

Hope ya like my first attempt at a music video!

OK, here goes! Now at work on lunch hour, trying to upload first mpeg clip of new hatchlings at 19.2 MB. Wish me luck!

The little icon at the RH corner of the screen says Local Area Network speed 100 Mbps-what does that mean?

that little thing tells you how fast your connection to your office's network is. Usually 10 or 100, depending on the network card in the computer.

Hey Kevin-I am so PO'd. I tried for 35 minutes to upload one that was 29.2 MB, failed, finally had to shut down as I get in trouble if I am on too long. Very frustrating-I wish it told you how long it takes to upload something. Liek when you download a program it tells you how long it takes. I might have given up like 2 min before it was completed. Will try again tomorrow.

The company has broadband/adsl but many people have access to it so don't know how other people also online affect what I am doing. The main IT dept is in Sydney and I am in Brisbane.

Here's how to get your videos uploaded for us to see very simply:

1. It doesn't matter what format your files are in. Download NERO the trial version.

2. Open NERO and choose NEW VIDEO

3. It encodes for you.

4. You choose the file type. I would choose DIVX or AVI

5. Upload to You Tube.

I do it all the time. Unfortunately (or fortunately depending upon how you look at it) you have a DVD recorder it appears, so that is why step 3 is necessary.

Let me know if you are still having problems, I will put together a screencast vid tutorial for you.

Regards,

John T.
