Sam the Toucan

I know it isn't an original name but it suits him or her. I will try to video some of his behavior. When I leave he makes the most interesting croaking noise and he does purr like a kitten when you pet him. He also plays like crazy. Very intelligent bird.

Sam came to me from a person who had him and had no idea how to take care of him. He was in a very tiny cage, just enough room for him to turn around in. I had posted that I had needed some help about 4 or 5 weeks ago now, I think in the discussion thread and I got some really good advice. He is now fully recovered(well he has some filling out to do) from his ordeal however I don't know if his wing will ever be right because here in Trinidad they have this notion that you just clip one wing. Well they cut his a bit short and i think they may have damaged his wing in the process. It doesn't appear to be growing any new feather like his tail is. I know in the states they are expensive but if you can afford it I would highly recommend being owned by a toucan. I know that if I still lived in the states I wouldn't be able to afford one of these guys so I am enjoying him all the more. I will be happy to share him with everyone by sending pictures of him and his progress.

Phatgun... PLEASE don't get a bird as complicated as a toucan. You sound like you get bored really easily and doesn't sound like you interact and care for your pets too much. From reading other posts where you let animals fight, your mum kills them, you get bored and let them fly away etc etc etc.

Why do you hate hornbills? From what I hear the males are usually extremely aggressive and difficult to keep tame, but the females can make good pets. Plus their nesting habits are interesting, and they have a neat look. Actually hating them sounds a bit, extreme, but if what the poster above says is true, I guess that it's not surprising that you'd feel that way.
