Some Advice

If you're going to pet a Toucan or buy one... Please remember that their poop sticks!!! And they shoot poops when they're freaked out! It smells like fruit loops, which is very disgusting, I know. But it does!!! And it smells GOOD!

I bet it tastes like fruit loops too, ok actually it does because when working at the bird shop Tookie shat in my mouth. Mmmmm mmmm goooood. Oh and their beaks are kind of soft so dont be scared... They're all growl and no bite.

Find a mad Toucan... Go near it's cage and it will growl. It's the CUTEST thing you will ever hear. Oh and they're LOUD.

Oh about the poopy... When it gets on you, it's a bit hard to wash off. Remember, anything slimy and green gets on you, it's not friendly drool, it's poop.

EWWW!!! LOL

I actually met two keel billed toucans! Very funny creatures, and I loved how they hopped around the shop! Sadly though, a little kid scared one of them (one was a store pet... the other I'm not sure) and it jumped into the window...

Awwwww poor Tookie Tookie!

Ewww indeed, Toucan poop is supposed to be a repellant, but how can it when it tastes and smells so fruity?! lol. I think the repellant is the sticky part.

Cause some people own mad Toucans. But then again Tookie at the shop was very happy and very nice but she always growled when you got near her.

I just wanted to step in for people who might not know better, but it is not nice to tease toucans. I know that THIS toucan was cute and was not mean so going near her and having her growl is a fun thing for her, but not all toucans would view this as playful. Some might view it as teasing..

Just another side of the coin.

Exactly, the mad Toucan thing was only a joke, thanks for clearing that up Dayna!

Good, sometimes people don't always get it. You have to be careful.

Like the term "wing clipping". Some people view that as really cutting the wings. I have one cockatiel as proff of that. I prefer to use the term

"Flight Feather Trimming".

Less room for error.

I realized the mistake when Megan asked the question, only I never fixed it. So thank you so much. That is so scary about your tiel. What a terrible thing to do, clipping the actual wing! What does it look like?

I really don't know much about toucans as pets so I have been reading the forum to learn about them. I had to have a huge laugh at this. I would have never imagined that toucan's poops smels and tastes like the cereal inside the box with the toucan on the front. Its such a strange concept, eat this cereal that tastes like toucan poo, and theres a toucan on the box haha. I am sure they must have known the link between the bird and cereal when they made it. I will never look at fruit loops the same again lol
