Shooting poop?

Alright, I've been looking into getting a Toucan. The only thing is my Toucan would have a room to himself instead of just a cage (since I know they have very specific housing requirments). But I've read some unsettling things about their poop (mainly that it squirts everywheres) and I really don't want to have to clean a room covered in poop every day. The main breeder of Toucans I found online (Emerald Gardens) I think has said that Toucans do not shoot their poop. And that they are also very quiet birds compared to parrots. Yet I've seen many people on here saying that Toucans are very messy and loud.

Can any Toucan owners (or people who have had experiences) please dispell these rumors =P

most toucans are on the quiet side, there are only a few species that tend to be considered noisy (and I still am willing to bet that many many parrots are way more loud even still) the Swainson's comes to mind.

In a competition to be the messiest bird, any of my cockatiels would definitely beat my toucanet. They certainly aren't mess free, but I have yet to own a bird whom didn't make a mess, some just do more than others.
From what I have heard in general toucans aren't more difficult to clean up after than parrots, and some owners claim they are even easier to clean up after. I'm sure individual experiences vary.

It also is possible to potty train toucans, in fact if your lucky your bird might just decide to mostly limit itself to pooping in a few places (such as wherever it's perches hang over) anyhow.

Sam, my chanel billed toucan, is very quiet...but when he does his croaky call(for lack of a better way to describe it) it can be rather loud...the sound really carries. Thank god he doesn't do it very often..lol. As far as messy...he is kind of messy..but he does go potty in specific spots so they can be trained. As far as shooting poop...they don't really shoot it...but it can be runny and splatter, I think this is due to their fruit diet. My guy doesn't get pellets(because there isn't any available on the island), he just gets his varied fruit diet with some protein now and then as close to his natural diet as I can get. I don't feel that you could go wrong with a toucan as even though their poop may be a bit runny...it cleans up very easily, also they are not as destructive as a parrot, they really can't chew wood or anything like that. Hope this helps.....
