dowels

Hi everyone!

I bought some small wooden dowels at a craft store in varying diameters. In the package they look to be made out of the same wood as dowels perches.
After I got done making one of my birds a toy, I happened to notice that on the package it just says "Hardwood".
What are the chances that they are made out of oak or some other wood not safe for my bird?

Thanks,
Jeni
