Ok, here's one that I do. I was going to wait and see if I could post this in a newsletter for my vet, but I'll show you here too.
I went to a GFS (Gordon's Food Store). I don't know if you guys have them or not. If not go to a Samm's Club. Gordon's is a store for people buying in bulk who are in the restaurant business. Anyway, buy either little paper treat cups, coffee filters (unbleached) or those cone paper cups (like for a water cooler). Any of these will work. I drop in my birds Nutriberries (or other food). One in each cup. Depending on the size of bird depends on how much food you use. Twist the cup shut with the food inside. String all the twisted cups together with rope, I use Paulie Rope. Hang it in their cage. Start by hanging it near their food bowl. Over time, once they recognize what it is, hang it in different more challenging areas of the cage. You also might want to start with just putting the twisted cups in the food dish first before hanging them so they get the idea that they are supposed to rip the cup apart to get to the food inside. 1-the cone cup and what the package looks like 2-the actual cone cup 3-the nutriberrie in the cone cup 4-twist the top of the cup 5-start by putting a few in their food dish with unwrapped food also. ...continued |

1-then try hanging a few next to their food dish once they recognize that there is food in them.
2-once they realize what they are, start hanging them in more challenging areas of their cage. Here's Rico trying to get to them from a wreath that dangles from the center of his cage. |
