Look what I made

An Atom

Got the plans from another board. It was so easy. I just used flexible pvc (5/8"), and I cut it into 12 even sections (about 5.5 inches, but can be adjusted to other birds, mine are very small). Then I stuck it into six 1/2" connectors, and wrapped it with vet wrap. I wanted to use smaller width pvc for my small birds, but I couldn't find connectors that were small enough. Since the pvc fits so snuggly into the connectors, there is no need to use glue or screws. Took about 45 minutes, including wrapping it.

Great job Kristy. I would love to make a big version of that! Where did you get flexible PVC? I have never heard of it.

I got it at Home Depot. I had never heard of it either, but there it was in the plumbing section. It is clear, and comes in 10' and 20' lengths. I bought two 10' lengths, and use less than one, so I am returning the other. I also got 4 rolls of vet wrap, and used less than two, so now I have extra for when it needs to be replaced. I will take a pic of the pvc for you. They alos had it in black, and a patterend clear type, that is actually what is attached to the sprayer on my kitchen sink.

You little guy looks very sweet in his new atom.

An aside - check out the Toy making section[ The Hoopball...A DIY Project by David S in the Sub forum] there sre some really big atoms there too - the photos are great & the birds are all loving them. Some were made with different materials.
Don't think anyone made one for a Budgie tho.

YES, finally someone who has made a smaller version of the Hoopball! I've seen the larger, macaw sized versions that other members have made and have been waiting for someone to come up with a smaller one (I've been too lazy to come up with something on my own so far ).

Thanks for the tips, I have a project for the weekend
