Hoopball-heavy duty for medium fids info

Here is the instrcutions on how build the one pictured below. There is no drilling, taping, or gluing. It is heavy duty and comes apart for dishwasher safe cleaning. This cost $35 and about 1 hour to make.

12 feet of 5/8" (inside diameter) braided PVC pipe cut into 1 foot pieces(found at Ace hardware)
6 PVC pressure crosses-1/2"
60 feet of poly rope-3 colors
1 foot of brass chain and one of those hangy things

Cut PVC pipe into 1 foot pieces (if you couldn't get the hardware man to do it) Cut 12 pieces of poly rope from each color about 14-15 inches long. With 3 pieces of rope, hold the end over a candle to melt one side of the rope-just enough to stick together-and insert it into the tube. (Melting together helps it glide better) Do this for each tube-cutting off the excess. Push the ends into the pvc crosses until very snug/tight. Hang with the chain.

Hope your fid enjoys!

Question

Wow that is really nice. For what size of bird is this? I want to make one for my tiels. Do I have to resize the measurements or can they be just the same size?

does your bird have grip on that? valo would have a hard time not sliding off... that's why i made my hoopball using rope braided hula hoops....
(you could wrap it with pet wrap)

Its a "sticky" like rubber-not slippery, so not a problem there. Bobbie is about a foot tall, so it should work for tiel-with those long tail feathers. The ball is about 2 feet tall.

I've got the hoopball version and I've got one tiel who really loves it! As well as the budgies!

I would think though that it would be better to use large eye-hooks to screw into the PVC and using stainless steel links (like those for choke chain collars for dogs) to hang it with...

In the least I'm glad to see someone has used the braided PVC!

Hi - new to the site. Can someone give step by step instructions on how to put one of those balls together as well as pictures - PLEASE. I know it's asking for a lot, and let me apologize forthwith, but it's hard for me to visualize how to put one together.

A friend told me of using hoola-hoops.

The guide is here, but due to many infringement rights, most of the pictures are gone.

That looks awesome, but I would suggest something other than the brass hanging part. Brass, I am 95% sure, is not safe for birds.
