Does anyone know if it is safe to use food colouring to dye wood for the toys i want to make??

Yep. I have used food coloring to dye a lot of wood toys. I used the liquid kind and it worked best for me to add a LOT of food coloring to a little bit of water and then I kind of painted it on with a q-tip. Of course, I didn't have that many to dye...

mix food colouring with rubbing alcohol, not more than 70% solution, it dries quickly and at the same time it disinfects the wood. It is safe and many have been doing it for a long time. I have never had a problem with any of my dyed wooden toys.

I recommend Vitacritter - Exquisite Colourant Toy Color Concentrates

It may seem expensive but a little lasts a LONG time... and you don't have to use a bunch of food coloring to achieve the same effect as VitaCritter Dyes.
