Food Coloring on wood

I was wondering if I painted untreated wood pieces & blocks with food coloring, is that ok for my Pionus to chew on? I would be using the food coloring you get in the baking section, and pure vanilla extract (not imitation) for colors like brown & tan.

I dye in the kitchen.

My couch has spots now.

Don't ask.

And the fact my fingers looked like I had closed them in a car door for over a week was a great topic at work.

Did I mention I wore gloves?

Don't ask.

LOL

haha

i have a funny story about this stuff.

well i was dying some pieces of wood for the birdies and when i finished i put the bowl of dye in the sink.

*earlier in the day* we had to turn the water off in my house for the pluming work. so as a result, air got into the pipes.

so i turned the water on real gentle but nothing was coming out, i could NOT figure out why, i forgot that the water had been turned off. so....i turned the water on all the way....SPLASH!!!! water shot into the dye bowl and splashed it EVERYWHERE!!! uhhh took FOREVER to clean it up, it got on my face! i had spots on my face for a day or two! and clothes and all ehhh stained for good!

haha well thats my story

moral???

careful with the dye! and aim water elsewhere and gently!

Rubbing alcohol? Tequila? Vodka? Everclear? Rum? I'm severly new to all of this making toys thing and very slow to catch on to things on Mondays (off to get more wine).

I appreciate the help, seriously, this board has been a god send!

How about some Scuba gear? Self-contained breathing apparatus.
