How do I know if these are safe?

I've read about people making toys with popcicle sticks, but how do I know if the wood is safe? The package doesn't say what they're made of. Are all popcicle sticks typically made out of the same kind of wood or can it vary?

Also is it safe for me to use the pull tabs from aluminum soda cans?

the posicle sticks are fine! No worries there. The tabs I wouldn't use. They contain a little zinc, which is bad for the birds!

The plastic caps off of soda bottles or water bottles are usually big hits though!

Thanks mmr and new ekkie mom. I won't use the tabs. And I've already started saving those bottle caps after seeing someone else on this board make toys with them. I'm saving the milk jug rings too for my lil conures!
