sewing my own hut

My grandma is really good at sewing stuff, and I was planning on asking her to make a sleep tent for my conure. I was just wondering, is there any special type of thread I should get, or will any cotton thread work?

Thanks

I don't know about the threads but I made one out of fleece and I tied it together instead of sewing it. I would assume that if all the threads are "inside" the lining and the bird can't get to them then they are fine. Look into the fleece its cool it doesn't fray like cotton or other fabrics do.
