Go buy some untreated pine from the hardware store... drill holes, cut into pieces and string up on stainless steel chain. They don't care if its colored or not.

I use apple wood and pecan wood and make toys as well as pine and poplar from home depot. Find a dollar store and buy tons of whiffle balls and find some other plastic things that look fun that you can hang up. Buy wire, pear links, and O rings to make the toys, stainless steel. Go to the salvation army and good will and find baby toys that you can use, and then disinfect them and your bird will be so happy! My bird loves those toys with the different shape plastic parts that you put in the matching hole, as well as some things that play music and other bright colorful things. Buy bulk bamboo shredders and wooden or plastic beads and stuff and make your own toys, I make tons of stuff for my chinchillas as well as bird, you can get ideas here from my website... My Cockatoo loves to make wood blocks into toothpicks. I like buying her coloured ones, because I think she enjoys the colours. I actually find it's cheaper to get a box of blocks designed for a rabbit or similar - for some reason a box of 14 blocks is $4 at my local store, and a bird toy with like 5-8 blocks is twice the price ?? She also loves egg cartons, the cardboardish ones, not the styrofoam types. Cereal boxes are a big hit, fun to shred.
