Can I use some parrot training tips and tricks to train my 2 lovebirds. They both have become territorial and nippy ( Bird speak for biting!). I want them to step up, step down, and not to attack peoples(my) hands, just really basic stuff, nothing to complicated. Can they be trained with the same kind of material, or am I asking to much from the little birds? thanks... Kiwi and Chers Mom.

In theory you could. I have the same problem with my keets.one of them runs right for my handsevery time I go near the cage.Im lucky he just nibbles and doesnt really bitehard I guess. They were both tameand still are alittle bitif their out of the cagebut not really. Its discouraging. Id love to know any tips specifically about small birds and cage aggression.

I had the same sort of problems with my conure when I first got her and yes you can train them. There are lots of options out there you just have to search. My blog linked below gives you some things I did to make my bird a little more friendly.

Clicker training will work on any bird species. There's an excellent book at Amazon.com: Clicker Training for Birds (Getting Started): Books: Melinda Johnson

Melinda Johnson also mods the Bird Click group on Yahoo Groups. I joined recently and there's a lot of great info in the files that will help you get started.
