Exclamation Tiko is very shy :(

My Pacific parrotlet "Tiko" was very nice and warming up to me when we first got him... but after he broke his leg (LONG STORY) he has been very skiddish... and its really sad. I can't even go near him now without him trying to fly away and he was really good before alla this. He just got his cast off after five weeks and I want to start training him again but he won't even come near me... ITS KILLING ME

any suggestions?

aww...poor little birdie!

well the first thing is............patience.........try just sitting near his cage and talking to him. and go from there...he will get comfortable again but do it on his time and don;t rush it. try feeding him treats from your hands or just hold treats in your hand and see if you can;t entice him over.

Hope this helped!

i used to have a sun conure that broke her wing when she tried to fly right after her shower(in the bathroom still at this point)... since she was so heavy she fell like a rock and hit her wing on the toilet REALLY hard.

so while she had the splint thing on..she was NOT happy. i think because well birds fly, that how they get away from danger, and well...she could not. but when her wing healed she slowly got back to her HAPPY self..
