How to get my CAG to step up?

She is 26 years old but I only have her about 5 weeks. She'll let me pet her anywhere and has not even tried to bite. She'll put one foot on my hand but won't commit to both. She really seems like she wants to but just won't take that last leap of faith. She regurgitates a lot for me and seems to trust me but won't let me hold her. I don't want to rush her and possibly make her fearful of me. Am I asking too much too soon?

A little history on Keena .... she belonged to my aunt formt he age of 6 months until I got her. She wasn't really ever worked with since she bit my aunt. After that my aunt was afraid to try to take her out of the cage. Keena was allowed to come out and go back in at will. She's always had her wings clipped and seemed ok with just sitting and playing with the toys on top of her cage.
I plan on handling and playing with her so teaching her to step up is vital. Any suggestions? TIA

Give her time. It sounds like she wants to but has to do it on her terms not yours. Just keep talking to her and tell her step up as you put your hand to her. Sit next to her cage and let her accept the big change in her life. A bird can take several months to adjust a new flock. Sounds like you are off to a good start. However remember at some point you may get bit. That is part of owning a parrot. When and if you do get bit tell her no but don't react to much or it will become a game.

For giving her a new home and the love she needs. She is also probably morning the loss of your aunt even if she didn't handle her she was her flock..
