New Catalina

I have been given an 11 month old Catalina. She is beautiful. She talks a lot. Now the problems. She is very territorial of her cage. You can not touch her or get her off of her cage. Once she is off of her cage you can touch her. She is very nippy. The other owner hasn't had time to work with her for the last few months. He bought her when she was a couple of months old. Just a few feathers when he got her. He could hold her then. Just not now. I have lots of time to work with her. Just need to learn the techniques. I

You may want to get a few books with techniques to help you out. She's still pretty young, you just have to have patience. When we got Sarge, he was pretty cage aggressive as well. The only time I put my hands in the cage is to pick him up at night, and he's so preoccupied with running to his bowl of walnuts, I don't think he notices I'm in there. Otherwise I just leave the door open and he comes out on his own terms. Don't try to force her out of the cage, especially now, while she's learning to trust you. It's good that you have lots of time to spend with her, that always makes things better with these guys. Congrats on your new birdie!
