Yes, but I use a ball point pen as the clicker. The other clicker scared the birds too much. It worked well with my tiels. Scooter (my caique) does not like it, but has started to respond a little to it. She does better with verbal praise and pets.

I like this site here:

My little senegal is too young to come home yet, but I'm planning on using some of the methods I found on this site to train him. What's most important in "clicker" training isn't actually the clicker. It's the method of rewarding the animal for the desired behavior and ignoring everything else. Also important is working in small steps. For example, to teach a bird to come, start by rewarding it when it steps up from right next to you. Then move a few inches away. Then move a few feet, etc.

The clicker makes a precise distinct sound which lets the bird, or any animal, know that reinforcement/reward is about to be delivered. The clicker is called a bridge because it bridges the time between action and reinforcement. When the clicker is conditioned by clicking and reinforcing, it then becomes an event marker, so when training, the correct response is clicked letting the bird know exactly which action is being reinforced. Clicker training is a reward based method of training and it can be done with a clicker, a verbal or even a visual bridge.
