Question Freeflight Training

Hi,

how you think about free flight training? Practiced here someone freeflight training? In Germany, it is occasionally discussed, but there are not many who dare.

I look forward to your answers.

I would never dream of taking a flighted bird outside without a harness or carrier. I don't care how well trained the bird is, it's just asking for a problem to happen. Why take the risk is my question. I put my dog on a leash when I take her outside because I don't want her to be hit by a car, why would I let my bird fly free when there are 10x as many dangers?

I would never try, no matter how well trained they are. But there are some who are practicing it, so it interested me. Of course, there are loud threats, no question. But it is really nice, they are free to fly to see you do not find too?

I want to freeflight my bird, but I don't think he's a good candidate to take outside. I've been practicing recall indoors, and i've been taking him to the local gym for freeflight practice. He still needs a lot of work!

Have you joined the yahoo freeflight list? It's by the same guy who fly's the Macaws in parks and such (Chris Biro)

IMO if you are prepared for freak distractions, noise that startles your bird, a hawk attacking from above etc then go right ahead. Calculated risk may work out for you but it does not for many. Who had that free flight grey on u tube for many years and then he was on saying how she went and begging people not to?

we all take calculated risks every day, some with cats, dogs etc. How would you feel if it happened and she flew away?

I believe it goes the other way round - calculated risk works out for many but it may not for you...
