Couple videos of Stewie's tricks

I uploaded a few more recent videos of Stewie performing or working on some of his tricks.

Stewie retrieves:

Stewie puts ball in a cup:

Stewie puts rings on peg (ring toss)

User Jacob has motivated me to work on the Psitta Puzzle (shapes puzzle) again. We were getting a little frustrated with it, so we haven't worked on it much. Here's our most recent session:
YouTube - Sun Conure - Psitta Puzzle (Shapes Puzzle)

The last one is just the first half of the session with that prop. In the last 60 seconds or so, Stewie was just wandering around trying to hand me the puzzle piece instead of trying to fit it into the base... he was obviously getting bored so I just edited that part out. Maybe I'll leave it in next time I film it, so everyone can get a sense of what a training session on an unperfected trick looks like.

I recently saw this video: YouTube - Kili Senegal Parrot - Parrot Does Four Piece Shapes/Colors Puzzle and am now thinking that I might want to buy Stewie the larger version of his puzzle. It seems like it would be easier to manipulate. I think the smaller version requires way too much coordination on his part)

Enjoy.

Awwwww, how cute! What a smart bird! Very cool, I'm going to try that with my birds. BTW, I use clicker training with my rottweiler puppy (just started puppy agility classes) and when she heard your clicker in the video, she stared at me like she was saying "What?! Why are you clicking?"

OK - should I take that red one off again or should I put the other one on... Wow - what fun!!!

I'm glad that Phenonemon is still alive... Laughter is the best medicine...

Is this the same Stewie from Frustration (two-fold): aggressive Sun Conure and non-bird ppl? Have you managed the aggression?

In Organisational Behaviour, when I did an MBA, I used to have a professor that would say, "there are two schools of thought on motivation: Theory X and Theory Y. Theory X managers assume that employees are lazy and will avoid work if they can. Theory Y managers assume that employees enjoy work and the mental stimulation that work can provide."

I've always subscribed to Theory Y.

Stewie seems to subscribe to it too - it seems he likes the work!!

Yep, it's the same Stewie... and I don't know for certain if he's still aggressive to Mika because I don't give him opportunities to be near her. (Not sure if that counts as "managing the aggression" to most people, but it's how I'm managing the situation). I'm quite certain that if given the opportunity, however, he would still go after her. Those two are like oil and water (if oil was in the habit of biting the snot out of water).

But yes, he likes doing his tricks. He's a bit of a show-off I do have to watch my fingers when I'm taking props away from him, though, because sometimes he gets a little worked up doing his tricks and will bite me if I try to reset the props for him. He's a crazy goober.
